Youth exiting school who have extensive disabilities are welcome to our Adult Day Center. The center is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and serves 140 adults age 18 (out of high school) and older. Approximately 60% are severely disabled and 25% are seniors. Most need highly individualized attention, such as assistance with eating, toileting and gross motor skills. Nurses are on hand to handle medical issues. Daily activities at the ADC include a variety of health, social and other support services, such as hobby groups, games, health and wellness programs, recreation and socialization programs. These activities take place in small group settings with a staff. An on-site kitchen provides meals, snacks and life skill training. A Sensory Room is uniquely designed to soothe and/or stimulate clients. Creative therapies such as art, music and movement are also provided.
